Govett-Brewster Art Gallery programme

Client: Govett-Brewster Art Gallery
Project: Copywriting and copyediting
Graphic designer: Osborne Shiwan

For the opening of the Len Lye Centre and reopening of the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, we assisted the marketing team by writing some of the key history pages and getting the first programmes edited and proofread.

For instance, working closely with curators, we wrote new bio pages for the gallery’s two main protagonists: artist Len Lye and patron Monica Brewster. Additionally, we helped the events and education team complete their new programmes.

Excerpt:

‘Len Lye (1901–1980) is arguably one of the twentieth century’s most original artists; a one-man art movement spanning several countries and multiple media over a lifetime and beyond. As a New Zealander practising in London during the pre-war years, and then a key figure in the post-war New York avant-garde art scene, Lye mapped a unique course through Modernism.’
